How to make a refferal
Trauma Recovery UK currently have centres in Bath, Oxford and Guernsey, with a centre coming soon in Cambridge.
We welcome referrals for 1:1 Creative Psychotherapy and for Creative Therapeutic Mentoring from parents and carers, self referrals from individuals aged between 16 years and 24 years, schools e.g. SENCO’s, school nurses, CAMHS, GPs, police, social workers, fostering & adoption agencies, courts and other organisations who recognise our specialism in complex trauma.
To make a referral, or to ask any specific questions you have, simply email referrals@trc-uk.org and the team will get back to you to answer your questions and to ask you to complete a referral form. They will also advise on waiting times.
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions but do reach out to the team if you have a specific question that hasn't been answered below.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I refer?
You’re welcome to email referrals@trc-uk.org and the team will get back to you with a referral form. We hope that we can help you.
How long will I wait before getting a place?
We know that waiting for support can be hard. When you complete a referral form, our team can advise you on the likely waiting time for the centre, as waiting times can vary between each of our centres.
We aim to offer support to parents and carers whilst they wait and we can let you know more details about this when you refer to us.
When do sessions start?
Lots of our spaces for creative therapy or therapeutic mentoring arise at the start of each academic year (September) because on average we work with families for a year, but spaces can come up at any point, and we will keep in contact with you whilst you wait for a space.
Once a space is available, a member of our team will be in contact with you to consider session times, arrange an initial appointment so you can meet us and see our centre, and discuss next steps together. We look forward to meeting you!
What do sessions look like?
We have information for children, young people and parents and carers on this page: What to expect | Trauma Recovery UK
Is this support free?
We have always believed that finances should never be a barrier to accessing our support. We are grateful to our Restorers, Grant Funders and Fundraisers who enable us to offer subsidised sessions to families who are genuinely unable to meet the full cost of therapy themselves and where there is no funding support available from school, statutory authorities or other charities or funders to help with this.
If you would struggle to afford the cost of a place, or if you don’t have any access to funding, please let us know when you complete the referral form.
Here’s how much it costs us to provide each session:
Therapy:
1:1 Therapy session for a young person aged 3-15: £100 (including the cost of the parenting group session)
Therapy session for a young person aged 16-24: £75
Therapeutic mentoring:
1:1 mentoring, 1 hour session: £40
Group mentoring, 1.5 hour session: £30 (including the cost of the parenting group session)
Parenting support group:
Parenting support group session: £25
Can I come back if I need more support later?
Yes absolutely! We have an open-door policy and we welcome children, young people or families to get back in contact with us if they need more support in the future. We also love welcoming people back for a cup of tea and to hear about how they are getting on. Drop us an email – we’d love to hear from you.
